Behind door # 3....

Another opportunity has presented itself. Months ago I applied for a position at the county Sheriffs Dept. as a dispatcher. I was told that there was an opening and that they would be testing in October. Well October came and went and I never heard from them and I just figured my application was not what they were looking for. Guess who called today? Yep, you got it. The test is January 30th. I'm not quite sure what the test entails. Some typing I know, which I am fairly decent at, but that's about it. This position would definitely mean though that I could not keep my job at the golf course. But on the other hand it's something I think I would really enjoy. I'm comfortable on a radio. Got that from my Air Traffic Control experience and Ham Radio (Amateur radio). Love having a mike in front of me! I may take the test just for the heck of it then see what happens. Who knows? Do you think I'd get a badge? :D

I used to dispatch. It could be a criticall test, where you read maps and pinpoint destinations, or to see how quickly you can discern a situation and get all the pertinent info, basically just speed and accuracy. It's all on the computer and I found it to be fun. Good luck, since you have Air Traffic control experience you definately have it in the bag!

Does this mean that you'll have to get rid of all of those marijuana plants in your basement?

Cool! The county is known for their lack of speed in their hiring process. My dad applied for a job in the Sheriff's Dept a little over a year ago and they finally called him 3 months later but by then they were way to late!

A good friend of mine was hired for this same position but before she started she had to back out...decided the hours weren't gonna work for her.

BEST OF LUCK TO YA! And hey, if you get it, we'll be even closer all the time and maybe we could meet more often!?
