Kids say the darndest things

I thought of this story after reading a post from Cheryl and thought I would share it.

Back in 7th grade, I attended a Catholic school. Most of the teachers were nuns but for one particular class we had a lay person (not a nun). She taught sex education. (Wonder why a nun didn't teach this one?) Anyway, the method for teaching this was to separate the boys and girls. On days when she taught the girls she would have one of the parents of the boys come in and watch them and on days she taught the boys, visa versa. At that age it was a big thing to have your mom be the one to come in. It wasn't until we got older that was total taboo! The teachers name was Ms. Martin. I remember one day she needed a mother of one of the girls to come in and watch us while she had class with the boys. Excitedly I run through the front door yelling "MOM, MOM! Ms. Martin needs you to come in and watch the girls while she has sex with the boys!"

What can I say?

Good Vibrations

I am SO excited! I'm going to be feeling some 'Good Vibrations' this summer. I just learned this morning that the Beach Boys are going to be playing at the Lenawee County Fair this year. Now I just need to find out when tickets are going on sale and get in line! Ok, so I'm 40 something, but I love the Beach Boys music and if it means sleeping in a sleeping bag all night to get tickets to see this, by gosh I'm going to do it! Anyone with me?

I've been to very few concerts. Never really been a big concert person. My first was the Bay City Rollers then John Denver. I saw Jo Dee Messina with my sister and England Dan & John Ford Coley at Six Flags. Last year was John Montgomery and the year before that at the fair was Confederate Railroad. I think that's about it. There may be one or two I'm forgetting.

But now a chance to see the Beach Boys! I'm not letting this one slip through my fingers. The fair is in August. Jimminy, August! I can't even think about August right now. It seems like forever, seeing as how temps now are only reaching 40 for the high the next week and in the 20's at night. I am sick and tired of this, but I think I've mentioned that a time or two before.

Well, I may not be Surfin In the USA, but I'm going to have some Fun, Fun, Fun. Wouldn't It Be Nice to Come Go With Me and dance to some Rock & Roll Music?

Still here!

Well, I suppose that's enough of the gardening tag. Haven't had a chance to sit down for any length of time at the computer but I've tried reading your posts.

Hope everyone had a fun and happy St Patrick's Day! I could be found at the Pub drinking green beer at 7:00 am. A local DJ was there broadcasting live and that was just his first stop. He went to 5 different locations throughout the day and for each one you went to you could enter into a drawing for a trip to South Padre Island. I made the 1st 3 but then had to come home to take daughter to get her stitches removed. (She is doing really great!). Last stop was at the Saddle Saloon which is almost an hour drive for me and I couldn't get anyone to go with me so I didn't make it. Well, I got 3 chances in there. Haven't heard who won yet.

Not a whole lot else going on. Weather is still COLD. I am SO tired of this and SO ready for Spring!!! This has me back in my winter doldrums. I could really use that trip!

I will try to post something a tad bit more interesting next time. If you have any ideas feel free to send them my way!

Tagged: Gardening Meme

Sue tagged me for this Gardening Meme:

Well this one should be fairly easy for me, seeing as how I don’t have a garden. It’s something I admire in everyone else’s yard, but I just haven’t found the time to start one of my own. Maybe after my kids move out. I’m sure I would enjoy it since I love being outdoors.

If I was only allowed to keep one plant in my garden which would it be?
Well, seeing as how I don’t have a garden this one is kind of easy. But I will say my husband does a veggie garden and if I had to pick one of his veggies to keep it would have to be the hot banana peppers because I love the recipe I have for jarring them.

If there was only one thing invented in the past 100 years that I was permitted to keep, what would it be?
This one it tough. Sue and the one who sent it to her both said their computer, and that was my first thought, but I think I’d be ok with out it. I’d hate it, but I’d live. I am having a hard time deciding between my washing machine and radio. I can’t possibly imagine doing all my laundry by hand, but my love of music runs deep. I’d have to ponder on this one to decide.

Name 3 animals you saw yesterday (excluding cats and dogs).
Squirrels, horses, and llamas. I often see deer, opossum, raccoons, skunks and an occasional fox. We have a guy around the corner who raises llamas, so it’s not strange for me to see them.

Which season do you like the most?
I have to say Autumn in the south. It’s still fairly warm and nothing can compare to the colours in the mountains of north GA.

Name the person who imparted the most wisdom into your life?
Most definitely my mother. She not only taught me the wisdom of life but the wisdom of God. I have my mother to thank for my deep faith, and it is through my faith I learned true wisdom.

I’m tagging: Okay, I’m going out on a limb and tagging - Pirate, Suzy, Libby and David. Only if you guys and gals are up for it! :)

What next? Bread from heaven?

With in a 24 hr period we have gone from thunderstorms with tornado watches, to 65+ degree temps and sunny sky, to windy (really windy!) to snow showers. Weird. Then I'm sitting here and here the radio call for a high of 65 tomorrow. I was so excited till I realized I was listening to my internet station out of Peachtree City, GA. Bummer!

On another note, my daughter didn't make it to school yesterday. She woke up with her mouth hurting, but she did go today. Since I don't have to work today she thought she would try it and I could come get her if she got to hurting again too bad. Slowly getting better, but it will still be a while before she can eat 'real' food again. Once she gets to feeling up to it, the tooth fairy promised her a trip to Victoria Secrets. A long way from leaving a quarter under the pillow!

That's about it for today. Things are slow around here, sorry not more exciting post. Time to go throw another log on the fire. Till next time.....

Weather forcast for tonight: dark. Continued dark overnight, with widely scattered light by morning.

Thank you

Just a quick post to say 'Thank you' for all your thoughts, wishes, and prayers for my daughter. She is feeling much better now. The first 24 hours were the worst! Nausea and pain made for a very miserable little girl. She is at least now able to keep down some food, if you want to call Ramen noodles food, but it's her favorite. Her dentist sent her a HUGE, beautiful bouqet of flowers the following day. That really perked her up. I can't believe how big it was! He was so good with her. The pain comes and goes, I imagine she will be on the pain pills for a few days. She got up moving around today and says that she feels up to going to school tomorrow. She is a bit concerned about her chipmunk cheeks though. They are still a bit puffy. I hope none of the kids tease her.

Well that's it for tonight. I am going to try to get to bed early tonight (before 11). Today was a long day at work. Only 4 hours, but that shift does not allow for a break so it was non stop on my feet the whole time. And I picked today to wear my boots. My feet are exhausted!

Thanks again everyone! Wishing you all a wonderful week!

Wisdom teeth agony

It's days like this that make being a parent so hard. No, the kids didn't get into any trouble. They are not driving me crazy. Nothing like that.

My daughter had her wisdom teeth taken out today and she is in SO much pain! I would gladly trade places with her if I could. She was not put to sleep for the procedure, which I am kind of glad of. She got a local with laughing gas. The doctor must have given her at least a dozen shots! Then during the procedure he hit a nerve or two and gave her some more. She had all 4 removed at once. Thank goodness, because had she only had two removed I would never be able to get her to go back to get the other two removed! The two top ones weren't too bad, but the bottom two were buggers! They were impacted and growing sideways, pressing on the molars. Laying right on top of the nerve at that. He (the doctor) had to drill and cut, drill and cut. They came out in pieces. He literally had to 'break' them up. Just the sound of it was enough to send chills down your spine! My daughter was a real trooper. She did really well and the dentist was really good with her. The worst part of it was when the Novocain started to wear off. He had given her a prescription for Vicatin and said she could take 2 to start out with, but it didn't seem to be doing any good at all! She was hurting SO bad. I felt terrible that there was nothing I could do for her. She is finally sleeping now on the sofa, but I suspect she will not sleep great tonight. She still has a lot of bleeding and we have to change the gauze, and she will need her medicine every 3-4 hours. I hope she's feeling better tomorrow.
