Jay Leno pet tricks

I wish I could get this on video or teach my dogs to do this on command but I have yet to catch them at it. My husband thinks I'm crazy, but I KNOW my dogs are doing this. Occasionally I forget to fill the water bucket and my dogs get thirsty. There is a water spigot on the back of the house that I use to fill it. There are times when this spigot is on and water is pooling in the back yard and my husband fusses at the kids for leaving it on. I tried telling him it is the dogs doing this, but he doesn't believe me. The bucket will be pushed aside, laying on it's side, and water is either dripping out or at a full flow. I KNOW one of my dogs has learned how to turn this on when they get thirsty. I'm guessing it's Sophie, my Rhodesian Ridgeback. She is an extremely smart dog. What I'd like to know is if she paws at it or uses her mouth. One of these days I'm going to catch her in the act. Trying to get these two to pose for a picture is next to impossible. This was the best I could do for now.

I believe you Peach!!
Being a Rhodesian owner myself, I even agree with you that it probably IS Sophie.

Keesha is a very smart, determined dog too and when she wants something she figures out a way to get it!

Animals are way, way smarter than we give them credit for. My son and daughter-in-law tell me I have a bond with their female Lhasa Apso Chloe that goes beyond explanation. When I had my uterine hemorrhage back in January, the early morning hours when Dear Hubby was rushing me to the hospital, Chloe was awake and inconsolable...so fidgety they couldn't get her to calm down...exactly at the time it was happening! And I was about 25 miles away. Go figure, huh?! I believe you 100% about YOUR dogs...they've probably observed you guys turning on the spigot countless times and have figured it out for themselves. Too bad you can't get a video camera set up and see if you can catch them in the act!

Dogs are smart. You may be right!! Sooner or later you'll catch them at it and know for sure. Pretty dogs.

I had a dog once that learned to turn the doorknob on the door from the patio into the kitchen. I'd put her out only to find her back in the house. And no I wasn't on drugs or drinking, lol.

I totally believe they can turn the faucet on. They can probably do lots of other things that you just haven't captured on film!

I have no doubt that a dog can learn to do that - yes they are smarter than we think.

How funny! I have no doubt it's the dogs. I've had cats who could open doors by turning the doorknob--pets can be scary!

Oh my gosh, thats just too funny!! My son bought this little 'spy cam' thingy from this website, 'things you never knew existed'. We haven't gotten it hooked up yet, but when we do, I'll let you know how it works. Maybe you could borrow it from us and 'catch' your dogs in the act?? =o)

~~hugs~~

LOL! Reminds me of this story a friend of mine from Arkansas told me about his cow doing the very same thing and it was true! You've got to have a camera handy when you do catch'em! Nice doggies, btw!
