Michelob meets Miss Clairol

Alcohol and haircolor. Two words that probably shouldn't be together in the same sentence. I had a few beers yesterday while golfing, then a few in the club house and when I got home I got this wild idea to color my hair. Actually, I've had the box of haircolor up in my bathroom for a while but just hadn't gotten around to using it. (ok, I've been chicken) So any way, I figure this will help get my mind off of things for a while so I proceed to open box, put on gloves and read the directions. This can't be too difficult, you wet your hair and apply color.....right? Said something else about testing for correct amount of time, but who needs to go through all that. Recommends about 10 min (or whatever your test time was) plus if your trying to color grey then leave an additional 10. I figure 15 is about right. Now is that 15 minutes from when you begin applying color or 15 after you have meticulously squeezed some color onto each section that you have parted, then added remainder and massaged in, taking about 10 min in itself to do? Details, details. Ok, now that color is applied I set timer for 15 min then leave kitchen. I get preoccupied doing something and I hear "Mom! Your timer is going off!" Oops. How long has that been going off? No biggie, couldn't have been too awfully long. Now, rinse. Apply conditioner. Count to 120 or a little more to condition it good. Rinse. Towel dry. Now lets go look in that mirror and see what we have.......

I'll let you know when I can come up with the right words to describe this color....:)

I agree with sheets up there, I wanna see pictures!!

this is the exact reason why I have never braved the idea of doing it myself!

okay, I'm really considering coloring my hair for the first time....my daughter says she will help me since she has done her own. I'll leave the beer alone I guess......

Gee, it makes us wonder anyway!! I have colored mine many times. Piece of cake. One time I used an ash color though and it turned me all mousy looking. I had to go to K-Mart about 10:30 with that mousy hair, praying I wouldn't see anyone I knew, and buy the right stuff to redo it. (No, I didn't run into anyone I knew. Thank you Lord!!).

I just colored my hair this past weekend and I kid you not, when I washed it out, the water was purple. Not purpleish, but purple!
I freaked, but the actual color isn't too bad.

haHA! Drinking while coloring. Dangerous. I'm so sorry. Hopefully it will be better after a wash or two.

Ha! I once colored my hair and it was okay, but I didn't love it. So smart me bought a color stripper -- I thought it would just remove the permanent color I had just added (I was young and naive), but it stripped much more than that and left me with a very unnatural shade of orange. I could not go out in public like that. I woke my roommate from a nap and made her go buy me a new box of haircolor pronto. I ended up exactly where I started, pretty darn close to my natural hair color. I've never colored it since.

lol....I've often wondered the same exact thing....do you start timing from when you start putting the stuff on, or when your done putting it all on?

Cute post....made me smile. =)

I'm sure alcohol and hair color don't go well together...but it does sound like a fun time!
