Driving and Kittens

Well, my son finally passed his drivers test. We went to the Sect. of State office yesterday and got his license. He's now on the road! Don't say I didn't warn you. Usually we are lucky to be out the door by 7:45 when I take him to school. This morning, his first morning of driving himself to school, he was out the door at 7 sharp and went to McD's for breakfast and at school by 7:30. We'll see how long this lasts.
Oh, I don't think I have told ya'll this yet. I am now sitting in my bedroom typing away on my new laptop. Maybe now I will post a little more often. I love it! A friend bought it for me. Yes, a very good friend ;) Actually, he was going to get me a Dell. I protested every which way I could, but he is stubborn. After resigning to the fact that he was going to do this, I told him if he was going to pay for one, at least let me pick out the one I wanted. So I got this Toshiba. So far I am really pleased with it. That is what we got our daughter for graduation. I hear only good things about them, so we shall see. The only thing that is wrong is that I can't get my F buttons to work and my scroll feature on my mouse pad isn't working. But that is my fault. I was playing with buttons and features and somehow or another I locked it and can't figure out what I did. Oh Well.
My kitty finally had her kittens. She is just a kitten herself. She had 2 kittens but only one survived. I think one was too weak, plus she is not a great mommy. She doesn't want to stay with them. She keeps bringing me her little one and dropping it at my feet like she wants me to babysit. But he/she is a fiesty little thing. A little climber. At least I only have to find a home for one kitten. I need to get her fixed before this happens again.
Well, I think I am going to go golfing this morning while the weather is still nice. Before too long it is going to be too cold. Hope everyone is doing well and I will make the rounds a little later this morning.

To Vote Or Not To Vote

Well, Ches your safe for now. My son didn't pass his test. He had one small boo-boo. Actually he did very well, but for the red light he almost ran. That was an automatic failure. Poor kid, he was so upset with himself. Well, we have it rescheduled for the 11th of October. I'm sure he'll do much better.

It's that time of the year again. Voting. Ugh! I am so tired of all the political calls and commercials etc. But I do have a cute story to share with you. My daughter is 18 this year and I asked her if she had registered to vote. She replied that she wasn't going to vote. She said she didn't know anything about any of the candidates. I told her there are ways to get information and she should vote on what's important to her. I told her if I don't know anything else about the candidates, I vote pro-life. That is what is important to me. She said if she voted one way then her boyfriends mom, Cindy, would be mad at her and if she voted the other way then I would be mad at her. I told her that she didn't have to share with anyone who she voted for. She said that Cindy would drag it out of her. Well that pretty much ended the conversation. A couple of days later there was some political literature in the mail that I had tossed on the kitchen counter. She happened to glance at it and the fireworks started going off. Apparently it was something about hunting rights being taken away. She was hollering that no one was going to take away her right to hunt! That's not right! etc, etc. She made quite a scene. That's when I told her that she needed to vote to protect what is important to her. I think she is going to register. LOL. I'm a little disappointed that she found that more important than right-to-life, but I did find it amusing. I hope all of you vote this year.

Not enough hours in the day!!

No, I didn't disappear again, things have just been kinda busy. On the days I work I don't have time to post because I need sleep. On days when I'm off I get caught up on things I didn't get done when I was working. Somethings not right here! Well, dog-gone-it, I'm going to make time!
It is SO wonderful hearing from y'all! Norman, please email me!!! I've lost all my contacts and don't have your address. Kris, I got your post and will be in touch soon.
My youngest son goes to take his drivers test tomorrow. So if you live in the lower SE part of MI I suggest you use great caution in driving. Ches, this means you!!
As you can see I got my video working. I found a different site. I think there are 5 songs on my list and you can actually choose which one you want to listen to. Each of them has kind of a special meaning to me right now in my life. The first one is one of my favorites. I just love the video.
Oh, another thing taking up my time. We have a new addition to our family. She is a 4 month old Brittany Spaniel. She is a real sweetie! She was going to the shelter if we didn't pick her up that day. She is a hand full though! I will post pictures later.
Okay, well I need to run. Smile! and live life to it's fullest!

HELP!

I'm not sure why but I can't play the video in the window above. Is it playing for anyone else? It is just a blck screen that shows the Windows Media logo. It worked before, but since I have returned I can't get it to work. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't recall doing anything special before to get it to play. This is driving me nuts. I'm not terribly computer smart, but I've usually been able to figure things out. This has me stumped, and it's probably something really simple. Oh well, can't mess with it any more, time for me to get some sleep. Have work tonight. Thanks for any help you can give me!

My life in a nut shell (at least the last year)

It was nice to hear from some of you. Nice to know I was missed. Well, let me dive right into this. Most of you know that I had things going on in my life. Things I just wasn't ready to share. Not on my blog anyway. It didn't seem like the place. I have been divorced now for almost a year. That was probably the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. I'm not going to go into detail, but it was something I should have done a long time ago. I also went to school and got my aircraft dispatching licence. I used to be an air traffic controller in the military and then with the FAA. I always wanted to get back into the aviation field and this was perfect for me. I am know working at a local airport for a cargo airline. It's full time with benefits. I really like it. I'm not working as a dispatcher yet, but hopefully within a year. It's still a good job.
My oldest son has graduated and joined the army. It is the best thing that has ever happened to him. He went in as a diver. After basic he had to take this training course that is quite intensive. About 27 of them started and only 4 finished. He was one of the 4. I am so very proud of him, and he is more proud of himself than he has ever been. He now goes to Panama City in October to the Naval Diving Academy for his training. I hope to be seeing him over Labor day weekend. I will drive down to Ft. Leonard Wood, MO where he is stationed now.
My daughter also graduated this past year and just recently started college. She is going to a local Community College and working on getting her pre-requisites out of the way so she can go to nursing school. I am also so very proud of her. As much of a challenge as these children have been to me growing up they seem to be turning out OK. I never doubted it for a minute. ;)
Now I only have one more in school. He will be a senior this year. Jeez, where has the time gone?
I have continued to golf, although I don't work at the golf course any more. My schedule doesn't leave a whole lot of time. Well, kinda, but I need that to get caught up on stuff around the house. I work 7 p.m to 7 a.m. 4 days on 4 days off. I really like it, and I'm a night person anyway, so it works out for me. I worked last night and it was my Friday so I don't have to go right to bed, but I'm getting a little tired and I don't think a nap would hurt. So, there it is, pretty much in a nut shell. I'm sure more will come out, but that pretty much gives you an idea what I've been up to. I'll try and catch up on ya'lls posts to see what's been up with you. Again, it's great to be back!

I'm surprised I even remembered how to find my way here. LOL. I know I've been gone for a while and I guess there really is no excuse. I just needed some time away. I will give a little update on what's been going on with me a little later. For now I just wanted to say hi and that I have really missed my blog friends. I hope I can find most of you, or that you may find me again. I'm going to take a little time now and visit some of your sites and see who's still around. I'll be back again soon! It's good to be back. :)

Value of $$$

Definitely my son! I can't figure out where I went wrong with him. Is it just a 'guy' thing? My daughter, when I take her shopping, goes directly to the clearance racks like radar. She is great about finding a deal. Just recently she went to Walmart to get some scrubs for work (I'll go into that in a bit) and found a pair of pants with just a smudge of dirt on them and got them for 10% off. She is definitely moms girl. On the other hand, I send my son to the store for OJ and a dozen eggs. Eggs were on sale for $0.89 a dozen (Store brand). I didn't specify that those were the eggs I wanted, didn't think I needed to. He comes back with a dozen Egglands Best eggs at $2.55 a dozen! I don't care that they are from vegetarian fed hens and that they are delivered with in 48 hours of being layed, and that they are kosher, and individually certified and stamped. I am NOT going to pay $.21 an egg! He owes me! I can't believe he didn't even buy the store brand, even if they weren't on sale. I need to give this child a lesson in the value of a dollar. Actually, once he's out on his own, I think he'll learn it fairly quickly.

Now back to my daughter. She finished up her dental aide class and is now working OJT at the dentists office. She is absolutely thrilled and loving it! The dentist seems to be quite impressed with her and is already letting her assist on her own during procedures. They have also talked with her about working part time over the summer. I am so very proud of her! She is growing up too quickly!

Till next time....SMILE and be happy!

Pickin' Wildshrooms

As most of you know, I am a southern girl. I love the south dearly and miss it, but I have tried to make the most out of living up here in the north. I really don't mind the snow (just wish winter didn't last so long!), I have witnessed some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets of my life up here. I have enjoyed living out in the country and small town living. Well, I have found another plus to add to my list......mushrooms! I have never been mushroom hunting and I got a chance to do it for a little bit this past weekend. We went out to a friends property and he brought us out and showed us what morels look like. I now know what a black and white morel look like and how to pick them. But honestly those little buggars are hard to see until you get an eye for them. We didn't find very many. Apparently it is just a bit early in the season and it was a bit dry. I would love to go back out and hunt for more. I cooked up the ones we did get this morning. They were awsome! I am going to have to find a closer place to look for them around here. I just hope I don't pick anything that is going to kill me! I'll have my hubby try them first....lol!
