Kids say the darndest things

I thought of this story after reading a post from Cheryl and thought I would share it.

Back in 7th grade, I attended a Catholic school. Most of the teachers were nuns but for one particular class we had a lay person (not a nun). She taught sex education. (Wonder why a nun didn't teach this one?) Anyway, the method for teaching this was to separate the boys and girls. On days when she taught the girls she would have one of the parents of the boys come in and watch them and on days she taught the boys, visa versa. At that age it was a big thing to have your mom be the one to come in. It wasn't until we got older that was total taboo! The teachers name was Ms. Martin. I remember one day she needed a mother of one of the girls to come in and watch us while she had class with the boys. Excitedly I run through the front door yelling "MOM, MOM! Ms. Martin needs you to come in and watch the girls while she has sex with the boys!"

What can I say?

Did Ms. Martin get run out of town?

And what did your mom do? Fall on the floor?

You know, here in the land of Mary Kay Letoureau, we take these sort of comments quite seriously...

she would fit in with some of the current goings-on in teaching today.

LOL! Reminds me of the time my grandfather took a partial retirement with plans to fully retire later. I was in the first grade and picked up on all of the excitement of the adults over this.
One day at school for "show-and-tell" I announced that my grandfather was partially RETARDED and things were going to be even better soon for he was quickly going to be fully RETARDED.
Kids, gotta love 'em

Something tells me you won't be repeating that story to your own CCD class there in Tecumseh.

In response to your comment on my own blog, yes, I Walk The Line is one movie that I really want to see. My son saw it recently and said it was pretty good, and it had Johnny Cash musical favorites throughout.

Good one! I'll bet your Mom was totally shocked!

Don't say that too loudly, or Ms.Martin might get arrested. *snicker*

LOL. I love the way children can get things perfectly right and perfectly wrong all at the same time. And with such enthusiasm too.
