Fall fades away

It seems like just yesterday everyone was welcoming the golden and crimson colours of Autumn. Days of brisk winds have brought Winter knocking at our door a bit early. I have a regular routine of waking with a steaming cup of hot coffee first thing in the morning and my favorite place to sit enjoying it is on my front steps. Even on cold mornings I bundle up in my robe and let the heat radiate from my cup into my hands and the warmth of the coffee fills my body. There's just something about fresh morning air that wakes me up. (Then again, it might be the caffeine.) This morning as I sat outside the sky was clear. It was not yet light but the sun was tucked just below the horizon giving a hint of a glow of the day to come. Looking to the west I see a line of clouds, like a military formation, moving rapidly in my direction. Behind it was the dark, gray sign of Father Winter on the way. The first real snow of the season is hidden in those clouds soon to start falling upon the earth. Looks like a white Thanksgiving Day is coming. We are only expecting 1-3 inches but it is the first of the year (accumulated anyway) so that makes it special. Kids are anxious to get out the snowmobiles, but I think that is still a few weeks away.

Well, I have the day off, so I need to scoot. Think I'll start my spinach balls for Thanksgiving dinner. Tomorrow I'll post my "Things I'm Thankful For". Till then....stay warm!

I LOVE that picture. Would not know what to do with snow on Thanksgiving - try 80 degrees - we will be out in the fields of the farm in shorts picking up pecans.

Hope yours is a good one.

Have I mentioned I hate winter and the snow? I need to move to Texas!

However, your description was amazing Peach! :)

I really enjoyed reading your post. Having once lived in cold country, I can relate. Now, well, we moan and complain when it gets below 70 degrees. Spoiled rotten we are.
